What type of services are available?

Rent My Lawyer offers services that range from appearing in court to filing motions, conducting depositions, negotiating settlements and assisting at trial primarily for other legal professionals who are overburdened or seek temporary assistance on litigated matters. Second opinions (including pre-matter analysis and reports) incorporating cutting edge legal research and analysis is also available to both legal professionals as well as parties, and insurance companies who wish to consider alternative strategies in difficult or high value cases where standard strategies may not be optimal or have become costly. At this time, discrete attorney work on actively litigated cases is only available in the jurisdiction of Massachusetts (state and federal). All consultations are confidential.

  • Past performance is no guarantee of future success

  • Court appearances in pending litigation in which the attorney of record is unavailable to attend the event.

  • Research, analysis, brief writing and oral argument in support of or in opposition to dispositive motions in pending litigation. Other motions also available, including but not limited to discovery motions, daubert motions, and motions in limine.

  • In depth consultations of pending cases based upon cutting edge legal research and analysis that may be considered a “second opinion” to the client’s current representation. The goal is to determine whether alternative cost-effective strategies exist if the goal is resolving ongoing litigation, dismissal, favorable settlement, or obtaining an advantage at trial.

Staff attorney services are provided as an independent contractor. Oversight by customer is limited to obtaining the goal or results sought. Customer may not dictate equipment, manner or performance of work nor limit independent contractor’s communications with client, court, and other third parties if deemed necessary in the staff attorney’s sole discretion. Legal research, writing, methods, and strategy for individual jobs are determined by staff attorney though input from customer will be considered. Staff attorney’s ability to perform and obtain a successful outcome* will be limited if customer prevents or limits access to client documents or any other information related to the litigation. Communications and documents generated will be maintained as privileged in accordance with law.
